These are specialist courses which focus on the education and training of students who are interested in a career in business.
They are vocational qualifications which mean that whilst providing an equivalent qualification to 2 GCSEs they also provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop skills for employment. They can also lead to further study in Business at level 3 AS/A2 level.

What skills do I need?
In order to succeed in the BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Business you need to be punctual, well organised and have good attention to detail. It helps if you are a little creative and you are a good time manager. As the course is all assignment work, you need to be able to work hard and be able to meet deadlines.
How will I be taught?
BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Business is a course that is delivered in one year. You will be required to complete coursework tasks for each unit, which could be made up of a written report, a display, a PowerPoint presentation, some role plays or a web based task. You will have more than one person delivering the course.
As part of our commitment to extended learning you will be expected to use the college Moodle virtual learning environment (VLE) outside of the classroom environment.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through coursework. There are no exams. It is a 100% coursework based qualification. The course is graded at Pass Merit and Distinction. All units MUST be passed to achieve accreditation with an overall grade.
What will this course prepare me for?
This course will give you an excellent knowledge of business allowing you to progress to a career in this area or even continue with further study.
You will be expected to carry out private study outside of timetabled lessons. This work outside of the classroom will enable you to complete your coursework tasks and achieve your target grades.
