Sports Awards- Wed 19 May 2010 NEW College held this years’ annual sports awards ceremony on Wednesday. The Team of the Year award was presented to the Rugby League First team for finishing 2nd in the league, and progressing through to the semi finals of the National Carnegie Colleges Cup where they were narrowly defeated by National Champions Hopwood Hall College. The Year 12 and Year 13 Sports Performers of the Year were awarded to World Champion Tumbler Samantha Rockett and Hull FC Rugby League player Jack Briscoe respectively. 

The top individual award, Sports Personality of the Year was awarded to Year 12 student Joshua Oldroyd for his commitment to college football, charisma and motivational character. It is the first time a Year 12 student has won the award, and he beat off competition from three other Year 13 nominations. Please click here for the other awards winners.
