Ten students from NEW College won the final of the NorVIc Federation of Sixth Form Colleges Debating Competition this week.

And, in addition to producing the winning team, four NEW College students won prizes for producing the best individual speeches in the event.

'We're absolutely delighted,' said George Edwards, one of the prize-winning students. 'We were competing against some of the brightest students from across the region, so to win against such top quality competition is amazing.'

The final, held in Wakefield Council Chambers on Friday March 27, followed on from heats held earlier in March. In total over 100 A Level students from across Yorkshire and the North East took part in the competition.
