We realise that many of our students wish to obtain part-time jobs to provide income to support their studies. We genuinely appreciate that part-time work can be very important. However, we strongly recommend that students should not take more than eight hours per week during term-time periods. Please note the article below as research shows that anymore than this can affect overall performance: -
“Sixth formers whose part-time jobs take up more than eight hours a week are risking the A Level grades they need for university. A research project in the West Midlands showed that teenagers working up to seven to eight hours a week marginally improve on their predicted A Level performance; however, results suffer when hours rise above this – those putting in more than 15 hours are scoring on average of 100 UCAS points below their potential – the equivalent of dropping from BBB to CCD.”
