NEW College and Tigers team up to provide more outstanding educational opportunities

NEW College’s HND Sports Science team have announced that Castleford Tigers will be one of their key partners in delivering the new course.
This means that HND students at the grade 1 sixth form college will have the chance to work closely with staff from the well-known Super League team. The collaboration gives students access to top-level expertise in training, nutrition and injury rehabilitation, all key components of the course, and will include visits to the team’s training facilities and stadium.
“Gaining access to a professional sports team gives the students unrivalled opportunities to put theory into practice,” said Andy Petch, part of the Sports Science team.
Students on the new HND Sports Science course, which begins in September 2015, will also have the chance to work with real-time data generated from the players’ performance in matches.
Castleford Tigers’ Head of Youth Performance, Pete Riding, added: “As a club we feel it is vital to offer career and education opportunities. We have been extremely impressed with NEW College Pontefract and are excited not only by the HND provision being offered, but by the other areas we are starting to work closer with the college.”
