Featherstone Rovers partner up with New College for England Rugby Scheme

Featherstone Rovers will be working alongside New College and Castleford Tigers as part of the Embed the Pathway Scheme run by the England Rugby Football League.
The scheme aims to increase the number of quality 12-16 year old rugby league players through education and training of children’s coaches. The programme also includes inclusive player profiling and sessions that can be used and adapted to meet the needs of young players at any stage.
The commitment to invest in rugby league coaches is part of The Great Start Programme, which aims to celebrate and encourage the coaches who will inspire the next generation of England stars.
New College, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers will all be hosting events as part of the scheme and in addition to this, New College will be offering an evening programme to local coaches to continue personal development.
“This is a great example of partnership working, alongside Darren Higgins at Castleford Tigers and Joe Barker at Featherstone Rovers, and it will be a massive boost for our potential students. With this programme we can attract the best players to study sport here at New College,” said Andrew Petch, one of the teachers on the course.
