Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership
The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables students to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities. The qualification teaches leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no final examinations to sit. All students also gain a recognised First Aid award during the course.
Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership
The Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables students to lead unsupervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. The HSL qualification is worth 30 UCAS points and is a valuable addition to any students’ CV.
This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership. The qualification develops the leadership skills learnt during the CSL course and gives students the opportunity to work with disabled performers. There are no final examinations to sit. All students will also gain a further First Aid award during the course and at least one National Governing Body Award.
Students undertaking the course will experience a wide range of sports volunteering opportunities. The College works closely with The Five Towns School Sport Partnership. This enables our students to gain experience working with pupils from a host of primary and secondary schools, and the chance to coach or lead pupils with Special Educational Needs. Students also have the chance to volunteer out of college time, and those who feel capable of achieving over 50 hours of volunteering in the year will be chosen to gain an extra qualification through the Step into Sport Leadership Academy. Here students can gain the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award through volunteering within college, or in the community at clubs such as The Mulberry Club in Wakefield.
Duke of Edinburgh
