Statement of Entitlement
NEW College is committed to providing you with a high quality careers education and guidance service. We believe a successful careers education and guidance programme can raise your aspirations, attainment and provide relevance to learning. The world of work is always changing and you can expect to have several different careers and it is therefore vital you acquire skills to manage your own career development.
You will have timetabled tutorials which will include information, advice and self-study programmes to help you make informed choices about careers and higher education plans.
The Careers Department recognises the importance of accurate and up to date careers and higher education information. You will have the opportunity to go on work experience and you can request a mock interview prior to university and employment interviews. We arrange a one day event with over 50 visiting speakers and also arrange higher education visits in the summer.
You are entitled to impartial client centred guidance from professionally qualified Careers Advisers. The College employs its own Careers Advisers. Graham Crossley Head of Careers and Higher Education, Karen Smitten and Emma Chappell-Davies. We also work in close partnership with Careers Advisers from the local Connexions Careers Service.
Careers Guidance Interviews are available in the form of either short "drop in" sessions or more detailed guidance interviews.
Your parents can arrange to see Graham Crossley at consultation evenings. They can also contact a Careers Adviser at College to discuss your careers and higher education plans.
Full Careers Guidance Interviews can be booked outside Graham Crossley's Office.
